On Saturday July 18th, 2009, the 7th Annual Pigstock: A Gathering for Peace will take place at Windbeam Farm in Hager City WI. Pigstock is a mixture of music, speakers, and community for peace in an idylic location near the Mississippi, just one hour’s drive from the Twin Cities of Minnesota.
No one will be turned away for lack of funds! Free camping on Friday and Saturday nights!
Pigstock is sponsored by Veterans for Peace, Chapter 115 and has a peace-themed agenda. This year we welcome journalists Chris Hedges, Helen Benedict, Coleen Rowley, Nigel Parry, Chante Wolf and Jeff Nyerguard as speakers and panelists.
Headliners Junkyard Empire and Pocket of Resistance have shared the stage with the likes of Boots Riley and the Coup, Eyedea, Ill Chemistry, the New Congress, and Los Nativos.
During the RNC in St. Paul, Junkyard Empire played the Sept 4th “No Peace For the Warmakers” show at the State Capitol, and Pocket of Resistance played the the Block Party in Lowertown.
Joining these two bands are a host of local musicians—including Roger Culbertson and Jo Schubert, Bill McGrath, and Bill Habedank who would like to introduce a new peace song around the campfire—to take us through the day into the wee hours!
